New name and logo accurately reflect the community-driven group’s mission and identity
BERNARDSVILLE, N.J., August 9, 2023 – Downtown Bernardsville is pleased to announce a new logo and name change to “Main Street Bernardsville” effective immediately.
The reason for the rebranding to the new name of “Main Street Bernardsville” is to better reflect the identity of this community-led nonprofit organization, and eliminate any confusion about the area that the group serves.
The Main Street New Jersey Program awarded main Street Bernardsville the official “Main Street New Jersey” designation in August 2021, and the group has grown since then in number of volunteers, number of annual events and programs offered to the community, and grants awarded to the organization.
Main Street New Jersey provides selected communities with technical assistance and training in an effort to revitalize historic downtowns. The program helps municipalities improve their economy, appearance and the image of their central business districts through the organization of local citizens and resources. The Main Street New Jersey Program was established in 1989 to encourage and support the revitalization of downtowns throughout the state.
“Our new name of ‘Main Street Bernardsville’ and new logo more accurately reflect who we are, what we do, and our mission, which is to serve the Bernardsville community,” said Olivia Manning, executive director of Main Street Bernardsville. “There was some confusion with the previous name. We want to be clear that we offer programs for all of Bernardsville, not only downtown or the Olcott Square area. We also want to differentiate our organization from local borough projects. Monies received from grants, donations and sponsorships goes solely into our projects and programs. We are not affiliated with any redevelopment work in Bernardsville,” added Manning.
The logo shares some similarity with the previous logo with consistency of pleasing colors of rich blue and energizing deep orange. It shares the overall feel of the old logo, but reimagined to reflect the new energy as a Main Street community.
“As the community evolves, so has our organization. With grants of $16,250 from the Somerset County Historical Preservation and $27,000 from Main Street New Jersey, and having become an officially designated Main Street New Jersey community in 2021, and now, an official Main Street America Affiliate, we wanted a name that shows who we are, and who we are becoming,” said Main Street Bernardsville president, Leah Horowitz. “Most of the funding received has supported our events and the upcoming new self-guided walking tour and its supportive programs such as a town app and history related events like the Haunted History Tours returning in October,” added Horowitz.
Volunteer led efforts will continue through Main Street’s 4 Point Approach with 4 distinct teams focused on: Economic Vitality, Promotions, Design, and Organization. We encourage the community to volunteer with us and learn more by visiting the website or stop by our new “Meet Up on Main” monthly open house the second Friday of every month. The next Meet Up is September 8th from 9—11 a.m. at the Starbucks in the Bernardsville Centre.
